Lake Wilderness Beach closed due to bacteria, again

Many people may not want to dive into the cool waters at Lake Wilderness Park during these cooler days, but adventurous beach goers are being asked to ask to stay away from the beach.

High bacteria levels were tested on Monday, Sept. 16, at Lake Wilderness Park and beach closed signs were posted, according to a King County Public Health press release. The public health office recommended closing the beach to swimming, wading and other water contact activities.

“At this point King County will need two sets of low daily test averages to drop to meet criteria to reopen,” the press release stated. “This means the beach will be closed over the weekend (Sept. 20 – 22).”

Water samples may be collected on Monday, Sept. 23.
