Kent resident escapes serious injury from townhouse fire | Kent Fire Department

The Kent Fire Department responded to a fire today at about 5 p.m. at a townhouse where the resident narrowly escaped serious injury. According to a press release from the department, the lone occupant was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital for further care.

Kent Fire was dispatched at 5:12 p.m. to the apartment fire in the 600 block of South 1st Avenue in Kent’s downtown area.

On their arrival crews found heavy smoke and flames visible from the northern portion of the complex. Crews were able to move in quickly and keep most of the damage to the unit where the fire started. One adjacent townhome suffered minor structural damage and minor smoke damage.

At this time investigators were just beginning their work to determine the fire’s cause. Damage estimates are yet to be determined.
