Aug. 22
- ACCIDENT: Southeast 289 Way. Engine 98 responded when a 4-year-old-female had fallen from a second story window onto a vehicle at. Upon arrival, they found patient bleeding from her face. Airlift Northwest was asked to respond but was unable due to bad weather conditions. Medic 11 transported her to Harborview Medical Center. To avoid having child fall from windows, the following safety tips are recommended.
- Always have young children supervised.
- Open windows no more than four inches.
- Open windows from the top down, if possible.
- Keep furniture away from windows.
Aug. 17
- HOT TOWEL: The owner of a puppy was heating a towel for it and threw the towel in the trash. The heat from the towel created a small fire that quickly spread throughout the area. The homeowner was alerted via the smoke alarm and was able to evacuate with the young puppy. There were no injuries reported. There have been several fires recently caused by hot towels in the trash. One of the fires in Washington was a fatality fire. It is recommended to cool towels and other hot objects before putting them in the trash. Also do not keep hot towels, paper, and/or trash wadded up when putting it into a the trash container.
