A fast moving brush fire in the 30400 block of 148 Ave. Southeast on July 24 could have caused more damage than it did after fire crews worked hard to contain it.

At 4:41 p.m. a passersby first reported the brush fire just south of Southeast 304 Street. The fire grew to approximately one acre before fire crews from Mountain View Fire and Rescue, Valley Regional Fire Authority, and Kent Fire Regional Fire Authority stopped the spread of flames through the light brush, tall grasses, and stumps. There were no structures in the direct path of the fire.

The fire had the potential to grow much larger to the south and west.

A total of four fire engines, two brush trucks, four chief officers, and two water tenders responded to the fire with approximately 25 personnel.
