Covington man riding a motorcycle dies in hit-and-run crash Saturday in Tacoma

A Covington man riding a motorcycle died during a hit-and-run crash in Tacoma at 2:26 a.m. Saturday. According to Tacoma Police Department spokesman Mark Fulghum, 30-year-old Darnell Chocklon was hit at the intersection of Ninth Street and South Ainsworth Avenue by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle left the scene of the accident. Investigators believe the vehicle was a white SUV possibly a Jeep.

According to Tacoma Police Department spokesman Mark Fulghum, 30-year-old Darnell Chocklon was hit at the intersection of Ninth Street and South Ainsworth Avenue by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle left the scene of the accident. Investigators believe the vehicle was a white SUV possibly a Jeep.

The Chocklon died at the scene.

Fulgham stated an officer saw Chocklon “racing around” on the motorcycle about a mile from the scene of the accident.

The officer attempted to stop the man, but he fled. Fulgham said the officer did not pursue him. Shortly after fleeing the officer the hit-and-run crash occurred.
