Cooling centers added in Black Diamond and Maple Valley to beat the heat

Temperatures peaked in the upper 90s today in Covington, Black Diamond and Maple Valley and The National Weather Service is predicting 103 tomorrow.

Thursday’s forecast from the weather service is 102.

The Black Diamond Community Center at 31605 3rd Ave. is listed as a King County cooling center and will be open from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. this week.

Black Diamond also added two other sites as cooling centers.

• The Black Diamond library at 24707 Roberts Dr. from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. today and Thursday, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday. Call 360-886-1011 for information.

• Black Diamond Eagles Lodge at 32618 Railroad Ave. from 2 to 10 p.m. daily. Call 360-886-1409 for information.

The city of Maple Valley posted cooling centers on its Web site.

• Lake Wilderness Lodge, 22500 S.E. 248th St. Wednesday, 8 a.m.-9 p.m. on the main floor and Thursday in the north wing.

• Maple Valley library, 21844 S..E 248th St., 10 a.m.-9 p.m. today and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m-5 p.m. Saturday.
