Breast Center opens Monday at Valley’s Covington Clinic North

Mammograms and bone density imaging will soon be available in Covington.

Mammograms and bone density imaging will soon be available in Covington.

On Sept. 12 the Breast Center at Covington Clinic North opens its doors to the public.

The center is operated by Valley Medical Center. Kelley Balcomb-Bartok, social media and public relations manager for Valley Medical, said in an email the staff and providers at the new Covington location will be the same as those currently at the Breast Center in Renton.

“We believe adding breast and bone density screening is complementary and a natural extension of the services we already provide,” Balcomb-Bartok wrote.

Valley has already been providing OB/GYN and midwives in Covington for a few years now.

“Breast cancer is easiest to cure when it’s detected early and offering this service closer to where our patients live and work removes the commute as a barrier to getting screened,” he wrote.

In 2013, Valley expanded its reach in Covington with the opening of the Covington Clinic South, near Costco.

When primary and urgent care was moved over to that building, it left space open in the north clinic for the expansion of services, Balcomb-Bartok said.

The Covington Clinic North is located at 16850 272nd Street. The new center will be located on the second floor.

Balcomb-Bartok added that should a patient need further testing or treatment following a screening, Valley offers more services at the Multidisciplinary Breast Clinic in Renton.

The Renton center has received a gold seal from the American College of Radiology for imaging safety and quality.

“Our expert and dedicated team of technicians, radiologists and support staff put the needs of our patients first. We understand the anxiety that comes with breast screening and diagnostic testing,” he wrote. “We work diligently to anticipate needs, provide information and connect patients with important resources.”
