BREAKING NEWS: Kent School District and teachers’ union reach tentative agreement

Kent School District Superintendent Edward Vargas said by phone tonight the District and Kent Education Association have reached a contract agreement at about 7 p.m., which if ratified by the member will end the two-week teachers’ strike.

“Part of the agreement is we will not discuss the detail until the agreement has been present for ratification (to the members) at 7:30 a.m. tomorrow, “ Vargas said.

Vargas added, “I want to congratulate the two negotiation teams for finding common ground that allows us to move forward. Now we can focus on the students.

Details of the agreement will be available tomorrow.
