Chili was the name of the game at the Maple Valley Farmers Market Saturday.

The market featured the a chili cook off with 12 entries and a panel of happy judges.

And the winners were:

First place – Barbara Gholston from Maple Valley. Her husband, Larry, has been entering chili cook offs for seven years. This was her very first try at participating in a chili cook off.

Second place – Lisa Albrecht from Maple Valley. This was her first time entering a chili cook off. She decided to enter the contest on Friday at 4:30 p.m. Her family noted that she makes the best chili in the world

Third place – Mark Dunning from Enumclaw and he is a Maple Valley Farmers Market Bagel Vendor. His secret ingredients for his chili included Uncle Dennis’ Chipotle Rub (also found at the farmers market) and tri-tip roast. This is the first time he entered a chili cook off.

The judges of the cook off were Maple Valley Mayor Noel Gerken, Councilman Dana Parnello, Ross Olive (Chili Cook off sponsor), Chuck Hardaway, Risa Anderson and Scott Jonas.
