SLIDE SHOW: Opening Night Reception for Kathleen Fruge-Brown at the Maple Valley Creative Arts Center

Kathleen Fruge-Brown’s exhibit of more than a dozen pieces done in a unique medium were celebrated Friday night during a reception at the Maple Valley Creative Arts Center.

Fruge-Brown uses vitreous enamel paint on steel, an unusual medium for an artist, to paint nature scenes in the woods in and around Maple Valley as well as along the Cedar River.

She chose the medium due to its versatility and durability in its uses. It can stand up to weather, the touch of curious school children, and even a Sharpie permanent marker.

This exhibit will be on display at the Creative Arts Center through Sept. 10.
