The Tahoma School District’s Russell Ridge Center is accepting pre-registration for the 2008-09 school year.

New families, as well as continuing ones, are welcome, officials said.

Russell Ridge Center is a K-12 parent-partnered alternative school, located on the Cedar River Middle School campus in Maple Valley.

Certificated teachers consult with parents in the writing of each student’s Written Student Learning Plan, which includes classes at Russell Ridge and education taking place at home.

Certificated teachers, parents and community members teach classes such as writing, science, math, art, APEX online curriculum, Shakespeare and international cooking, according to officials.

Garage sale benefits high school’s band

Proceeds from a garage sale today at Kentwood High School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. will help pay for the school’s band to enter competitions and offset other program costs.

The band’s booster group is the sale’s organizer.

Kentwood High is located at 25800 164th Ave. SE. in Covington.
