Local food bank needs your help

The Black Diamond Community Center’s is currently in need of the following items: instant oatmeal, peanut butter, jam/jelly, canned chili, canned stew, canned fruit, spaghetti sauce, pasta and macaroni and cheese.

Also on the center’s list of needed items are new socks.

Items can be dropped off Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

City names hotel study consultant

The city of Maple Valley announced Monday it has named LW Hospitality Advisors as the consultant to conduct a Hotel Market Demand Study.

The study will provide an assessment as to whether or not the city possesses a demand for lodging that would interest a developer. It will also provide the city with results showing if a development is economically feasible.

The study is expected to be concluded in early March 2018.

Currently, according to a media release, there is no lodging located between the city of Auburn and North Bend along Highway 18.

A specific site has not yet been determined by the city, however several potential sites have been.

Port of Seattle Economic Development Grant Funds were secured by the city to conduct this study, the release stated.
