The city of Covington, looking to add to the list of more than 50 artists and groups whose artwork has been displayed in the City Hall art gallery, is calling for visual art exhibits for next year.

In conjunction with the Covington Arts Commission, the city is accepting submissions from local and regional artists.

The application deadline is Oct. 17. Application forms are available at www.@ci.covington.wa.us, at City Hall and the Covington Aquatic Center and at ppatterson@ci.covington.wa.us.

The Arts Commission selects artists based on the artwork submitted at the time of application. Artists will be expected to exhibit similar works of art as that presented at the time of application. Monthly art displays usually feature one exhibitor.

The gallery opened in 2004 at City Hall and is open for public viewing weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. A 26-foot wall is designated for art in the City Council chambers. In addition, there are two track systems behind the Permit Center counter in the lobby – one of them 13 feet long and the other about four feet long – and a glass-enclosed case is available for small dimensional art.
