The Lake Wilderness Country Club holiday lights food drive on Dec. 18 took place lights or no lights and it was heartwarming to see people donate so generously. More than 500 pounds of food and $1,462 (which exceeded last year’s financial donations) was gathered for the Maple Valley Food Bank during the three hour drive.

Thanks to the volunteers who, in the past, persevered through blizzards and this year a power outage! Lights did come back on half way through the evening as donations continued to roll in. A sincere thank you to all who made it happen – the many Lake Wilderness Country Club neighbors who planned the event and gathered around the fire for the entire evening, in addition to the Jerry Wood’s Holiday Fire Engine (with Sparky and Girl Scouts), Melissa Donahue’s Girl Scout (Brownie) Troop No. 40510 and Junior Troop No. 42255; and, of course, Santa (Tony Perman). The positive energy as Santa and helpers gathered donations made the evening a totally fun and successful one! Thanks to everyone who gave so generously.
