Dog Spaw All Breed Grooming Inc. will hold a grand opening for their new shop in Maple Valley June 19.

Dog Spaw All Breed Grooming Inc. will hold a grand opening for their new shop in Maple Valley June 19.

The store will be open Tuesday – Saturday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The Dog Spaw offers grooming services for four-legged friends and their owners completed in two hours or less.

Plans to open a second location in Four Corners were initiated by an overwhelmingly positive response to the two hour grooms offered at the Covington location.

Susan Elzner, owner of the Dog Spaw, said that it operates similar to a human hair salon. Clients arrive at their appointment time, are shampooed, fluff-dried, styled per breed standard or owner request and then they go home.

The majority of dogs are finished and ready to go home in one and half to two hours.

Elzner, with over 25 years of grooming experience, got her start grooming her own English Setters for the show ring. She opened the first Dog Spaw, two miles outside of Covington, in March 2007.

Starting from scratch, the Dog Spaw has grown a large following of loyal clients and friends.

Kaitlin Dickerson got her start as an AKC junior handler 12 years ago, and has been involved in grooming and showing dogs ever since. She has been grooming at the Covington Dog Spaw for the last two years.
