Home Depot hosts flood-recovery clinics

The Home Depot store in Covington will join FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) in hosting clinics the next four Saturdays on how flood victims can salvage belongings and clean their home.

The tips will include health-related issues such as dealing with mold.

The free, one-hour clinics will be held at noon and 2 p.m. Jan. 17, Jan. 24, Jan. 31 and Feb. 7.

In addition to the Covington store, which is at 27027 185th Ave SE., clinics are planned for 11 other Home Depot stores in western Washington, including the ones in Issaquah, Kent, Federal Way and Bonney Lake.

According to Kathryn Gallagher, a corporate spokeswoman for Home Depot, the company has donated $45,000 in supplies to organizations to assist with flood relief. In addition, employees of the home-improvement stores have volunteered for cleanups.
