The annual city of Maple Valley Community Lighting and Holiday Party is set for 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
Fred Meyer and Good Chevrolet are the title sponsors of this year’s event at Lake Wilderness Park, Lodge, and Arboretum and invite all of Maple Valley to come and experience the thousands of festive lights, creative displays, refreshments and those familiar sounds of the holidays.
Following a welcome speech from Mayor Bill Allison at 6 p.m., you’ll have a chance to walk or take a ride through the displays on one of the Three Holiday Express trackless trains. Two are sponsored by Waste Management and one by Real Life Church.
Another fun option to view the lights will be a hay ride donated by AllPets Pet Sitting.
Holiday musical entertainment for the evening will be provided by roving Dickens Carolers and our own Maple Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Republic Services is sponsoring fantastic crafts and glow sticks for the kids. Maple Valley Fitness will be there to hand out hot cocoa to warm you up. Smith Brothers Farms will again be handing out free samples as will the Taco Time Traveler. The local Maple Valley/Black Diamond Chamber has made arrangements to insure Santa will arrive via Maple Valley Fire & Life Safety’s Holiday Engine. He will have candy canes for all and a picture opportunity for all the young ones in attendance.
Parking will be available in the lighted lower main parking lot by the beach with a lighted walkway to the activities happening in and around the Lodge.
Canned food, new toys and cash donations for the Maple Valley Food Bank will be accepted during the event.
The City of Maple Valley Parks & Recreation would like to invite anyone 14 or over who would like to volunteer to help with the event to contact Jennifer.edelhauser@maplevalleywa.gov or call 425-432-9953.
