Tahoma High’s We the People team is raising money for a trip to the national competition.

The team will represent Washington state at the 27th annual We the People National Competition April 25-28 which will be held at George Mason University in Virginia as well as on Capitol Hill. It costs almost $2,000 per student. Twenty-four students and three coaches from Tahoma are planning to attend.

The funds are being raised through the Tahoma School Foundation We the People National Trip Fundraiser.

Community members who wish to donate may do so by going to the GoFundMe site at http://www.gofundme.com/6w63n4.

All donations are tax deductible.

The Tahoma We the People team has placed in the top ten at the competition in four of its 18 years attending, including the past two years. Last year was the team’s best finish yet, finishing 7th out of 54 teams. The team has also won other awards including the Regional Award for Western State in 2008.
