The fuse box immediately caught fire so she turned the power off then threw water on the box. The homeowner was able to extinguish most of the fire on her own. Firefighters checked for further extension but found most of the damage near the fuse box. King County Investigator came to determine cause of the fire.

Safety Message:

  • Be sure to have a licensed electrician work on your home so they are up to code and mitigate any safety concerns. It is also important to make sure you know what is on fire before you decide to put the fire out. It is good that the homeowner turned the power off before she put water on an electrical fire or she could have been injured.
