Former Mayor Howard Botts and his wife Dorothy were given a surprise luncheon Dec. 29 at the Black Diamond Community Center to commemorate his 47 years of service to the community.

Former Black Diamond Mayor Howard Botts was given a surprise luncheon Dec. 29 at the community center to commemorate his 47 years of service to the community.

Botts served as mayor 26 years, and also as planning commissioner, City Council member.

The former mayor lost his bid for another term in November to Mayor Rebecca Olness.
