Freshman Justin Hoyle finished second in the 98-pound weight class

Six members of the Tahoma wrestling team placed in the annual Tristate Tournament, held at Northern Idaho College, lifting the Bears to a fourth-place team finish.

Freshman Justin Hoyle led the crew with a second-place finish in the 98-pound weight class, which is not a standard weight class in Washington but is for schools in other participating states.

Nick Whitehead, sophomore,, finished third at 120 pounds, pinning a returning state champion, according to assistant coach Boomer Burnham. Senior 195-pounder Adam Hokenson took fourth, losing in the semifinals to a multiple time national champion from Hermiston, Oregon, Burnham said. Sophomore Justin Sipila, 132 pounds, finished in sixth-place in a loaded weight class and senior Kingston Suka took eighth at 285 pounds.

The Bears next compete at the SPSL Championships Jan. 1-2 at Auburn High School.
