This is the final week of toy collection for the 2013 Toys for Joy program.
The public can drop off new, unwrapped toys at any Kent fire station through the end of this week. The Toys for Joy program accepts toys for all ages as well as monetary donations and non-perishable food.
The last gift wrapping party will be held at Fire Station 75 (15635 SE 272 Street) at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18. The public is invited to help wrap over 2,000 gifts that will be delivered to local food banks for distribution to needy families. Call 253-856-4485 for details.
The wrapped toys will be delivered to the Kent Food Bank at 8 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 20. A convoy of vehicles, including a semi-truck and trailer donated by USF Reddaway will leave Fire Station 75 at approximately 7:30 a.m. loaded with the wrapped gifts.
At the food bank, the toys will be unloaded and sorted by food bank staff for distribution later that morning.
Santa Claus will also be on hand to greet families and hand out candy canes.
