Kent School District hosts community budget meetings to discuss hiring, spending freeze

The Kent School District will host two budget information meetings to discuss a recently instituted spending and hiring freeze.

District officials announced the freeze the first week of April to reduce a potential $15 to $20 million budget shortfall for the remainder of the 2016-2017 fiscal year.

The community meetings are scheduled for 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 20, in the Kent-Meridian Library, 10020 SE 256th St., and from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, April 24, in the Kentlake Cafeteria, 21401 SE 300th St.
