GIRLS BASKETBALL: Unbeaten Kentwood girls brace for Saturday’s SPSL title game

Array

They may have a target on the back of their jerseys, but that hasn’t slowed the Kentwood girls basketball team one bit this season.

Especially not on Friday night, when the Conquerors cruised past rival Kentlake 57-31 in the final South Puget Sound League North Division regular-season game for both teams.

Second-ranked Kentwood (16-0 in league, 20-0 overall) ripped off a 21-1 run to start the game and never looked back.

The win simply added to Kentwood’s momentum as it heads into the postseason. The Conquerors will play SPSL South champion Graham-Kapowsin (17-3) at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Auburn High for the top seed to the West Central District tournament, which begins next week.
