The letter from Jim and Ruth Armstrong published in the Sept. 27 edition states that renters do not pay real estate taxes at all. This is not true. The owners of the properties that renters rent pay real estate taxes, and those real estate taxes are built into the rent charged. While the renters don’t pay real estate taxes directly to the county, they do pay them through their landlords.
