Raft sinks sending man and woman into the Green River May 19 - no injuries | Black Diamond Fire Report

RESCUE: Green River. Firefighters and emergency workers responded to a call of a possible swift water rescue of a man and a woman. The two were found standing by their vehicle.  Both were alert had no injuries.

The two were in a small raft when they ran into a downed tree in the water called a strainer. The strainer popped the boat and the two were able to safely exit river even though they did not have life jackets.

Safety Message:

The Green River is running very fast, cold and is extremely dangerous now. The past rain has added debris and possibly changed the river course for the Green River. The changes in the river along with the cold, fast moving current makes it very dangerous to float the Green River at this time.

Anytime you are near open water such as rivers or lakes be sure to wear a life jacket.
