The Covington City Council selected Barbara Grohe as the City’s 2009 Citizen of the Year and Daniel Key as the Honorary Citizen of the Year at their June 23 meeting.
Grohe was nominated for her contributions to the community through education. She has served as superintendent of the Kent School District and has dedicated the past 10 years to successfully preparing students for their future.
Key was nominated for his dedication to the Planning Commission. He has been on the Planning Commission for nearly four years and has served two terms as chair. Last year Key dedicated over 100 hours of service to the Planning Commission.
