The 2nd annual Brain Symposium will be Thursday, March 17, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Mill Creek Middle School.
The free event is open to the public and showcases student work during brain awareness week.
Special guest speakers include University of Washington Professor Eric Chudler, Ph.D. and Central Washington University Professor Ralf Greenwald, PhD. presenting their work in neuroscience education and the cognitive electrophysiology of the brain.
The community wide event is supported by the University of Washington School of Nursing, University of Washington School of Education, Puget Sound ESD, and the Center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering (CSNE). The event will also feature additional colleges and multiple local healthcare providers. The purpose of the event is to showcase student learning that will help to strengthen communities and inform families of the needs of the developing brain.
“It is our goal to connect our community with information and resources for access to a life of wellness and growth. Our students are becoming leaders in these areas and we know they have much to share with the district,” said Shannon Jephson-Hernandez, Mill Creek science teacher.
