A 22-year-old man was issued a criminal citation by Maple Valley Police and deputies from the King County Sheriff’s Office while riding a stolen bike Sept. 16.
At 3:10 p.m., the 13-year-old owner of the bike reported it stolen to the Maple Valley Police after seeing it last at the King County Library on Witte Road Southeast.
A search of nearby trails was undertaken, according to King County Deputy P. Whitney Richtmyer.
At 3:45 p.m., Maple Valley Police Chief Michelle Bennnett spotted the bike being ridden outside of the Maple Crossing Apartment. Bennett recovered the bike and apprehended the suspect riding it, who was issued a criminal citation.
The initial suspect was described as a white man in his late teens or early twenties and wearing a white jacket. The man found in possession of the bike was described as a 22-year-old black man.
