There were nine pies submitted for fresh fruit pie baking contest Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Maple Valley Farmers Market.
There were three age categories for the contest.
Youth –17 years old and under
- First place: Eden Atwood, quadruple berry pie, strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and blueberry
- Second place: Natalie Fuchs, awesome apple pie
- Third place: Aliesha Rowland, cranapple pie
Adult –18 – 49 years old
- First place: Rachel Atwood, peach blackberry pie
- Second place: Michelle Smart, raspberry-peach pie
- Third place: Lori Newton, peach and cherry pie
Senior- over 50
- First place: Loretta Gommi, blueberry crumb pie
- Second place: Diane Thom, peach pie
The pie judges included Tahoma School District Director Mary Jane Glaser, Traci Hipple, Cindy Svalsteff, Nick Castagna, and City Councilman Layne Barnes.
