As of next week, Maple Valley’s passport application processing procedures will process applications by appointment only.

Passports are will still be processed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

City Clerk Shaunna Lee-Rice stated in a phone interview the city had been having trouble with the walk-in policy, which is how the city had formerly done it.

“We had a lot of people in our waiting room,” she said. “We would get people in who ended up having to wait for other people.”

Now, she said, the city can plan its work flow based on the scheduled appointments.

An appointment can be scheduled by visiting City Hall or by calling at 425-413-8800.
