With more than 90 projects and hundreds of participants, the Cedar Valley Elementary Science Fair April 5 was quite a success, thanks to the support of the school’s PTA.
According to Jennifer Harjehausen, the Cedar Valley PTA received a $650 Applegate grant from the Washington state PTA, she wrote in an email.
“We are extremely fortunate to have the support of WSPTA for these kind of events,” Harjehausen wrote. “Most of the funds were used for trophies, medals, participation ribbons, and the refreshments.Title I funds purchased presentation boards for each student. Given the huge turn out, I would say that the funds were well spent.”
In addition to Judge’s Picks, invited VIPs including Covington Mayor Margaret Harto and Kent School District Superintendent Edward Lee Vargas, selected their favorite projects for special awards.
