Man, 58, dies in Covington house fire | Update

A man died in a Covington house fire Thursday afternoon, Sept. 16 in the 26200 block of 180th Avenue Southeast.

Puget Sound Fire tweeted at about 4:30 p.m. that firefighters were on location of a two-alarm fire at the house. Firefighters extinguished the fire and located one resident inside the house.

“We are sad to report that efforts to resuscitate him were not successful,” according to Puget Sound Fire.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man on Sept. 17 as Sergey Dekhtyar, 58. He died from inhalation of toxic product of combustion.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
