Jeff Wagner takes over as mayor of Covington

At the Jan. 12 City Council meeting Jeff Wagner was selected unanimously as mayor of Covington. He follows Councilwoman Margaret Harto who served as mayor for a decade. She announced her retirement from the position in December.

Sean Smith was selected unanimously as mayor pro-tem.

Covington’s form of government is council manager where the mayor is selected by the council from among its ranks. The council hires a city manager to direct the administration function of the city.
