Birthday reception Sept. 13 for local pioneer

Ione Perrin, a longtime resident of the Shadow Lake area and a pioneer of Maple Valley, will celebrate her 90th birthday during a reception in her honor Sept. 13 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Greater Maple Valley Community Center.

Perrin was the head chef for the lunch program for Tahoma School District for 30 years until she retired.

She graduated from Tahoma High School in 1937.
