The Tahoma gymnastic team is taking the floor with both youth and enthusiasm.
First year coach Venise Cunningham said, “We are a really young team, most are sophomores. Some of the girls are trying gymnastics for the first time.”
The youth also brings a level of fun and excitement and Cunningham said the team will be the strongest toward the end of the season.
A returning gymnast for Cunningham is Kayla Kershner, who was injured at the end of last season and missed post season action with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in her knee.
Kershner is competing on the bars now and the plan is to have her ready for post season action this season.
Kaylee Kiffer qualified for state last year on the beam and she is expected to be one of the top gymnasts for Tahoma this year in post season.
Cunningham competed in gymnastics at Kentlake High and coached at Summit Gymnastics.
