Tahoma Girls Water Polo Club is returning to the Maple Valley and Covington sports scene for year two after an impressive Inaugural 2015 Season. There will be a team and parent meeting for all girls and parents Monday, February 29 at 5:00 pm at Covington Aquatic Center immediately following the first team practice of the 2016 season.

Tahoma Girls Water Polo Club introduces high school girls to what has been called the most physically and mentally challenging sport on Earth.

The team operates as a club sport and is not affiliated with Tahoma High School although team organizers hope that one day the school will adopt the sport.

Practice will be at Covington Aquatic Center located on the Tahoma High School campus. Some home games may be “hosted” at the Auburn School District Pool due to referee time constraints and availability. Away games will be played at the Enumclaw Aquatic Center and the Auburn School District Pool.

Girls water polo practice officially starts February 29 from 3-4:30 p.m. and runs daily MondayThursday. The first regular season game is March 16. Post season play begins with Regionals May 20 and ends with State Finals May 26-28.

Tahoma Girls Water Polo Club was formed in 2015 by the parents of local competitive swimmers whose goal is to keep their daughters active after fall swim season ends. In addition, the team wants to support and grow the under recognized sport of water polo by offering female athletes grades 9-12 in local schools the opportunity to play, have fun, and develop life skills both in AND out of the pool while competing on a local community team.

Water polo combines the most difficult aspects of soccer and football (throwing, catching, and shooting the ball using a single hand) while swimming and treading water in a 30 meter pool.

For more information and to register your daughter please attend the Team and Parent Meeting: Sunday, February 29, 5 p.m. at the Covington Aquatic Center immediately following the first practice of the 2016 season. Registration forms are due Friday, February 19.
