Washington Horse of the Year Stryker Phd continued his preparations for his 2015 Emerald Downs campaign Thursday, working five furlongs in 1:02 (3/6).

With regular rider Leslie Mawing out of town, Joe Steiner came in relief for the morning drill. On a side note, agent Vito Lucarelli confirmed Thursday that Mawing would indeed ride Stryker Phd for the 2015 meeting. Mawing projected to have other options in the older horse division including last year’s Top 3-Year-Old Noosito.

Also on the work tab this week, the state’s Top Older Female Madame Pele worked six furlongs Monday in 1:12.60 (1/2). Madame Pele could be favored in next Sunday’s $50,000 Hastings Handicap.
