TRACK AND FIELD: Tahoma girls roll to team victory and boys show strength

The Tahoma track and field team traveled to Auburn Riverside High Thursday for a meet and the girls team won and boys showed considerable strength in individual events.

The girls won 92-49 as the team continues to roll toward the postseason.

The boys fell to the Ravens 75-52, but the Bears were strong in distance and field events.

For the girls Tate Latimer led the way with two victories in individual events. The star hurdler cruised to the winner’s circle in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.70 seconds.

Latimer was equally as dominated in the 300-meter hurdles with a winning time of 48.66.

Mande McKinney won the 200-meter sprint in 27.20 and Savannah Johnson was far and away the best in the 400 with a time of 1:01.2.

Molli Bahlenhorst took the 1,600 in 5:27.70.

The Bears won the 800 relay in 1:49.55 with Latimer, Johnson, McKinney and Mollie Picha carrying the baton.

In field events Bianca Walton won the long jump reaching 16 feet, 11 inches and she won the triple jump in 33-06.5.

Johnson had a tough day after finishing third in the Arcadia Invitational April 11 in the triple jump reaching 40-6, but there is little doubt the nationally ranked jumper will be back in top form very soon.

Johnson scratched in the triple jump and came in third in the long jump with 15-09.5.

On the boys side, Kelton Sears won the 800 in 2:01.2

Casey Campbell won the 3,200 in 10:07.

Nick Castagna ran second in both hurdle events to Auburn Riverside hurdler Andrey Zadneprovsky.

Zadneprovsky won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.35 with Castagna running a close 16.51.

In the 300 hurdles, Zadneprovsky won in 41.31 and Castagna came in second in 44.68.

The boys 400 relay team won in 46.54. The Ravens team was disqualified after the last leg dropped the baton on the handoff.

For Tahoma the relay runners were Aaron Davis, Devin Delgado, Daniel Burt and Tyler Campbell.

In field events, Aaron Davis won the shot put with a throw of 41-06.

Skyler Rubadue took the discus reaching 126.02 and Derek Eager won the javelin hitting the distance of 140.10.

Evan Schneider won the pole vault topping out at 12-06.
