Athletes from Tahoma, Kentwood and Kentlake place at 4A state meet

Tahoma High’s Denham Patricelli brought home a victory and the title of state champion in the javelin at the 4A track and field state tournament May 23-25 at Mount Tahoma High in Tacoma.

Meanwhile Kentwood’s Beth Parrish finished second in pole vault, Tahoma’s Paige Hammock finished second in the 300 meter hurdles, Kentlake’s Tori Lanza finished third in the same event, and the Kentwood boys 400 meter relay of Derrick Bell, Ivan Semerenko, Bailey Paladin and Brandon Stribling finished second.

Other top finishers for Kentwood, Kentlake and Tahoma included Tucker Mjelde of Tahoma with a sixth place finish in pole vault, a fifth place finish for Dallas Hayes of Tahoma in shot put as well as a fourth place finish in discus, a sixth place finish for Tahoma’s Savannah Haverfield in the 100 meter hurdles and Kentwood’s Sarah Toeaina who tied for sixth in long jump.

The Tahoma girls 400 meter relay of Hammock, Jennifer Barrack, Danielle Agoh, and Haverfield placed sixth and the Kentwood boys 1600 meter relay of  Semerenko, Paladin, Varrick Anderson and Robin Cheema finished eighth.
