Five of the top 16 boys discus throwers in Washington state are from Kentwood, Kentlake and Tahoma and will represent their schools this weekend at the 4A track and field state championships at Mount Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma.
The entrants from Covington and Maple Valley are No. 5 seed Dallas Hayes and Brock Eager of Tahoma, Travis Rogers and Jake Bailey of Kentlake and Terence Grady of Kentwood.
Other boys who qualified for the state meet are Bailey Paladin of Kentwood in the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash, the Kentwood boys 400 relay, the Tahoma and Kentwood boys 1,600 meter relay, Treyvon FLoyd of Kentwood in the high jump, Tucker Mjelde of Tahoma is the third seed going into the state meet in pole vault, Brandon Stribling of Kentwood won the long jump and earned the number two seed, Bailey and Hayes in shot put, and Anthony Gasero and Denham Patricelli of Tahoma in javelin.
Also qualifying for the state meet at last weekend’s West Central District meet are Paige Hammock and Savanna Haverfield of Tahoma in the 100 meter hurdles, Tori Lanza of Kentlake and Hammock in the 300 meter hurdles, the Tahoma girls 400 meter relay, the Kentwood girls 1,600 meter relay, Kentwood’s Carly Horn in the high jump, Beth Parrish of Kentwood in the pole vault, Sarah Toeaina of Kentwood and Danielle Agoh and Olivia Ranft of Tahoma in long jump, Agoh in the triple jump, Kylie Eager of Tahoma and Haley Larson of Kentwood in discus, and Haverfield and Rosie Lind of Tahoma in javelin.
