The Tahoma boys and girls track and field team cruised to an easy victory at its first league meet against Mt. Rainier on March 21.

The Tahoma boys and girls track and field team cruised to an easy victory at its first league meet against Mt. Rainier on March 21.

The boys won 135.5-10 while the girls scored 102-35.

Other than the 800 meter race, the Bears boys took first place in every event, while the girls experienced strong competition from Mt. Rainier sophomore Jordan McPhee in the distance races.

Senior Aaron Davis took first in the 100 meters with a time of 11.54 seconds, a personal record. Junior Cameron Stedman won 800 with a time of two minutes, 9.47 seconds, a mere half second shy of his PR the previous week at the Highline School District Jamboree.

Sophomore Riley Campbell led the Bears pack in the mile, stepping across the finish at 4:38.26, while junior James Dagley took first in the two-mile at 10:13.21. Sophomore Jordan Thompson took first in the 110 hurdles at 16.38 seconds.

Freshman newcomer Jacob Contreras earned dual individual firsts in the 200 and long jump, in addition to one on the 4X100 relay team.

In the field events, junior Dallas Hayes achieved a PR and first place in the discus at 130 feet, four inches, an inch further than his season PR last year. Sophomore Denham Patricelli won the javelin after throwing it 187 feet, three inches. Another PR was achieved by fellow sophomore Deshon Williams, who won the high jump and triple jump with leaps of six feet and 39 feet, eight inches respectively. Another sophomore to win was Tucker Mjelde in the pole vault, who was able to vault 11 feet, which was his PR from last season.

On the girls side, Paige Hammock achieved a new PR in the 100 with a time of 13.14. Junior Savanna Haverfield took first in the 100 hurdles with a time of 16.84. She also took first in javelin with a throw of 99 feet, seven inches.

In the mile, junior Elizabeth Oosterhout came in first at 5:26. Trying out the 300 hurdles for the first time, senior Cassidy Richmond took first at 49.93, as well as first in the 200 hurdles at 28.25.

In the field, the girls also saw similar success. Senior Nadine Hyde took first in the discus with a throw of 104 feet, once inch. Fellow senior Kayla Kershner pole vaulted at seven feet. Olivia Ranft won the long jump at 16 feet. In the long jump, junior Andrea Dryer flew 11 feet, five inches. Sophomore Danielle Agoh won the triple jump at 34 feet and two and a half inches, and freshman Sadie McKinney won the triple jump at 28 feet, eight inches.
