Trio of local teams heading to SPSL baseball playoffs this weekend.

The Kentwood baseball team capped off its successful season in the South Puget Sound League, 4A North Division taking the top spot and earning a berth in the West Central District tournament.

Kentwood won the division with a 14-2 record while finishing 14-3 overall.

The next game for the Conks is at 7 p.m. Saturday at Kent Memorial Stadium against Puyallup, the No. 1 seed from the SPSL South.

Puyallup closed its regular season with a 15-1 record and 18-2 overall.

The Conks closed the final weekend of the regular season with losses to Tahoma 14-4 and Thomas Jefferson 6-2.

Kentwood beat Auburn on April 30, 20-7.

Austin Voth and Taylor White each hit home runs in the game and each hit 2-3. Voth added a double to his stats.

FALCONS SNAG FINAL PLAYOFF SPOT

Kentlake grabbed the fifth place spot in the South Puget Sound League, 4A North Division, which gives puts the squad in a loser-out playoff game this weekend.

The Falcons ended the season with a 9-7 division record and 12-7 overall.

Kentlake will play Curtis in the first round of the league playoffs, 7 p.m. Friday at Kent Memorial Stadium.

The Falcons ended the season on a high note beating Kent-Meridian 10-0 Saturday at home and defeating Auburn Riverside 4-0 on April 30.

Talon Sisley picked up the win on the mound for the Falcons over Kent-Meridian.

Doug Christie hit one out on 2-for-3 hitting.

Brian Hartnett, Brian Mazzetell and Austin Pernell all hit 2-for-3 at the plate.

Pernell knocked in four RBIs.

Christie earned the win throwing against Auburn Riverside.

BEARS RIP OFF FIVE WINS IN LAST SIX

The Tahoma baseball team clinched third place in the South Puget Sound League, 4A North Division and ticket to the league and district playoffs by winning five of its last six games.

Tahoma has made a playoff appearance for the past five seasons, including a third place finish in state last year. This year Tahoma ended the season with a 10-6 division record and 13-7 overall.

The Bears last five victories included handing division-leading Kentwood one of its two division losses on the season Saturday with a 14-4 victory over the Conks at Kentwood.

The Bears next action will be in the South Puget Sound League playoffs.

Tahoma will face Emerald Ridge 10 a.m. Saturday at Kent Memorial Park.

The game is for seeding into the West Central District tournament between the third place teams in the SPSL North, Tahoma, and South, Emerald Ridge.

The Bears wrapped up the final weekend of division with a double header Saturday.

Tahoma took Kentwood behind the arm of Justin Cloud who threw for five innings, allowing six hits and four earned runs.

Jerad Casper knocked two out of the park on 3-for-4 hitting with five RBIs and a double. Casper hit at least one home run in three of the four final games.

Taylor Smart hit one over the wall against Kentwood, going 2-for-3 at the dish with two RBIs.

Tahoma lost to Federal Way Saturday 4-3.

Casper took the loss. He hit 1-for-2 with a double.

Jordan Johansen went 1-for-3 with three RBIs.

The Bears beat Kent-Meridian 13-0 April 30 on the road in five innings.

Brian Olson picked up the win.

Casper slammed two out on 3-for-3 hitting with four RBIs.

Tahoma took a win from Auburn on the road 13-3 April 29.

Spencer Hobson earned the win going six innings with nine strikeouts, six hits and three earned runs with two walks.

Casper hit a home run off 3-for-3 swinging at the plate.

Lance Schroder also hit a shot out while hitting 3-for-5 and adding a double.

Olson hit 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
