Tahoma Boys

Joe Donahue dominated the faceoff circle as Tahoma notched its sixth win of the season with a 16-7 boys high school lacrosse defeat of Stadium, Tuesday at Tacoma’s Stadium Bowl. Setting the stage for a commanding offensive performance, the Tahoma High sophomore won 14 of 16 faceoffs, allowing Tahoma’s attack to shine with four goals by sophomore Brennan Lundquist and three by freshman Brody Sullivan.

After slipping behind Stadium 3-2 in the first, Tahoma kicked into gear with five goals in the second for a 7-5 halftime lead.  In the second half, it was all Tahoma with four goals in the third and five more in the final quarter.

For Tahoma, Desmond Decker had two goals and four assists, Jake Hanson and Hudson Tyler each had two and Blake Lucky had a single goal. Jonny Eyre and Noah Leonard each had two goals for Stadium.

Tahoma (6-7-0) next faces Bellarmine Prep (4-5-0), Friday, April 27 in a 7 p.m. start at Tahoma High School. Stadium (1-9-0) next faces next faces Skyline (8-5-0), Tuesday, May 1 in an 8 p.m. start at Skyline High School in Sammamish.

Tahoma Girls

Sumner freshman Sara Vargus netted a seasons-best five goals to lead Lake Tapps to a 17 – 9 girls high school lacrosse win over Tahoma, Tuesday at Tahoma High School.

The win evened Tapps’ record at 4-4 and moved the squad into a second-place tie with Spanaway Lake, just one point behind division-leading Evergreen.

Tapps jumped to an 8-4 lead by halftime, then added none more in the second to seal with win.  With her five goals, the midfielder Vargus now has eight on the season.

Ashley Gowdey, Kaitlyn Dige and Sophie Wulfing all had two goals for Tahoma. Lake Tapps (4-4-0) next faces Graham-Kapowsin (1-8-0), Friday, April 27 in a 7:30 p.m. start at Aubrun High School. Tahoma (1-8-0) next faces Bethel (0-8-0), Monday, April 30 in a 4:30 p.m. start at Bethel High School.
