The 4A SPSL All-League awards and selections have been announced.
Mason Johnson, a senior at Kentlake, was named offensive lineman of the year, and Elijah Suka, a senior at Tahoma, was named defensive lineman of the year.
Named to All-SPSL 1st team defense were Tahoma defensive back Denham Patricelli, Kentwood linebacker Tim Angevine, Tahoma linebacker Suka, Kentlake defensive lineman Mason Johnson, and Kentwood lineman Kyle Caupperald.
Named to the All-SPSL 2nd team defense were Kentlake defensive back John Morasch, Kentwood defensive back Derrick Bell, Kentlake linebacker Travis Rogers, Kentwood defensive lineman Terrance Grady, and Tahoma linemen Amandre Williams, Michael Clausen, and Seonte Kong.
All-SPSL honorable mentions for defense went to Kentlake defensive back Tyler Harris, Kentwood defensive backs Brandon Sytsma and Isaiah Williams, Kentwood linebacker Jonathon Lee, Tahoma linebackers Blake Donohue and Jerome Woods, and Kentwood defensive linemen Josiah Bronson and Deris Fugh.
Named to the All-SPSL 1st team for offense were Kentwood running back Sytsma, Kentwood wide receiver Grady, Tahoma wide receivers DeShon Williams and Patricelli, Kentlake offensive center Romello Brice, Kentlake offensive lineman Johnson, and Tahoma offensive lineman Nick Kinney.
Named to the All-SPSL 2nd team for offense were Tahoma quarterback Shane Nelson, Kentlake running back Harris, Kentlake wide receiver Morasch, and Tahoma offensive center Kingston Suka.
All-SPSL honorable mentions for offense went to Kentwood quarterback Brian Campbell, Kentwood running back Bell, Tahoma running backs Joe Donahue and Woods, Tahoma wide receivers Alex Jeric and Julian Sumler, Kentwood tight end D’Vaughn Wells, Kentwood offensive center Mafua Makani, Kentlake offensive linemen Travis Rogers and Jaron Engstrom, Kentwood offensive linemen Bronson, Andrew Stone, and Nolan Sijer.
Kentwood’s Brandyn Bangsund was named second All-SPSL kicker and received an honorable mention as a punter.
Named to the All-SPSL 1st team for special teams were Kentlake’s punt returner and kick returner Matt Burley, Kentwood long snapper Nick Barden, and Tahoma cover Jordan Sweeney.
Nominees for the All-State football game include Suka, Johnson, Grady, Williams, Sytsma, Brice, Nelson, Bangsund.
