SLIDE SHOW SPSL TRACK: Tahoma track and field team a force at South Puget Sound 4A league meet

The Tahoma track and field team will be sending a strong group of boys and girls to the West Central District track meet. The district meet begins today at Mount Tahoma High Stadium, 4634 S. 74th St., Tacoma.

The girls were a force at the South Puget Sound League tournament May 13 and 15, qualifying 16 for the district meet.

Savannah Johnson will be battling in the field and running events. The nationally ranked jumper will compete in the long jump and triple jump. In running she will take on the 200-meter sprint and 800 relay.

Tate Latimer will be running the 100 and 300-meter hurdles and the 800 relay.

Sierra Haverfield will also compete in the hurdles.

Mande McKinney will be in the long jump and two relay events, the 400 and 800.

Molli Bahlenhorst will run in the 1,600 and the 1,600 relays as will Lauren Clawson.

Kassie Jensen will run in the 400, 800 and 1600 relays and Sarah Jeric will be in the 1,600 relay.

Distance runners include Hannah Mittelstaedt in the 3,200, Julianna Mock in the 1,600 and 3,200, Blair Slater in the 3,200.

Mollie Picha will run in the 400 and 800 relays. Alexis Taylor and Cassidy Richmond are both in the 400 and 1,600 relays.

Bianca Walton will be busy in the 400 and 800 relays along with the long jump and triple jump.

Laura Merle will be throwing the javelin.

For the boys, Casey Campbell will be competing in two distance events, the 1,600 and 3,200.

Kelton Sears will run the 800 meter and the 1,600 relay.

In the field events Derek Eager will throw the discus and javelin and Evan Schneider will compete in the pole vault.
