BASEBALL

PLAYERS NEEDED

EVERGREEN STATE SPORTS

The organization is accepting NEW PLAYER REQUESTS for interviews for admission into its developmental programs. Teams currently seeking to fill rosters are 9-U, 11-U, 12-U, 13-U, 15/16-U, and 18-U. The 2008-09 TRAINING YEAR CYCLE is now under way. Team and individual sessions are available. The club is forming new 8- and 10-year-old teams to join its 12, 14, 16 and 18 age squads. Teams have limited spots available. Individual players may train with existing teams. Private, small group and team instruction is available working with coach Brian Embery. TEAM FACILITY RENTAL REQUESTS are being accepted. Options include rental only, or team training provided by Coach Embery. Limited time slots are available. BASKETBALL

HIGH SCHOOL, YOUTH COACHES CLINIC

The Seattle Storm will offer a free clinic to high school and youth coaches on Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m.-noon at the Furtado Center, across 5th Avenue from Seattle Memorial Stadium. The clinic will feature Storm head coach Brian Agler, University of Washington women’s head coach Tia Jackson, and Shoreline Community College men’s head coach Butch Estes. The clinic is open to all youth coaches, but is geared to the high school skill level. Storm star and WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes will appear at the clinic. TEEN GYM NIGHTS

Free drop-in nights for teens are offered Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6-9 at the Black Diamond Community Center’s community gym, 25511 Lawson St., behind the Cenex gas station. Adults are welcome on Wednesdays at a cost of $1.50. Registration is required. All players must bring court shoes. DREAM GIRLS AND KNIGHTS

The team is open to those ages 6-18. The remaining registration session for the 2008-09 parade season is Saturday, Dec. 6 at 1:30 p.m. Registration takes place at the Elks Cascade Lodge, 9116 MLK Way South in Seattle. Fees are $75, or $125 for two children from the same household, or $175 for three children from the same household. BEGINNING FLY-TYING CLASSES

The Washington Fly Fishing Club will offer classes for beginners. Classes will be offered on Thursdays for eight weeks beginning Jan. 8, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. each week at Mercer Island Covenant Church.
