REILLY RETZ, Kentwood

Grade: Junior.

Sport: Soccer.

Accomplishment: Retz delivered a huge shot for the Conks in the Class 4A state opener last week, finding the back of the net to seal Kentwood’s 2-1 first-round victory over Central Valley Nov. 9.

Favorite class: Student store.

If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: The Hood and Columbus Short. I would serve my dad’s flank steak, my uncles mashed potatoes, asparagus and my mom’s salad. The perfect meal with amazing people. Greatest athletic moment: Taking third at state last year, and getting all-league (SPSL).

Most recent book read/author: “Reservation Blues” by Sherman Alexie.

Currently playing on your iPod: “No Bull” by Chris Brown. Also: Retz hopes to attend Boise State University after high school.

KYNDAL PHILLIPS, Kentwood

Grade: Freshman.

Sport: Swimming.

Accomplishment: Phillips finished fourth in the consolation final of the 200 individual medley and fifth in the consolation final of the 100 fly at the Class 4A state swim & dive meet.

Favorite class: Science.

If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: Ricky Berens, and I would serve spaghetti. I would invite Ricky Berens because he swam in the Olympics, and he’s my favorite swimmer.

Greatest athletic moment: Going on the podium at state as a freshman.

Favorite movie: Stick it.

In 10 years, I will be … : Hopefully swimming at a great college like Cal-Poly.

MYKALA BENJAMIN

Kentwood

Grade: Junior.

Sport: Soccer.

Accomplishment: Benjamin scored a pair of goals last Saturday, Nov. 13, helping the Conquerors knock off Lewis & Clark 4-0 in a Class 4A state quarterfinal game.

Favorite class: Oceanography.

If you could invite anyone in the world to dinner, whom would you invite, and what would you serve: I would invite Pink and I would serve sweet potatoes and my grandmother’s collard greens.

Greatest athletic moment: Scoring against Tahoma when we beat them 2-0 on their senior night.

Most recent book read/author: “Ruby Holler” by Sharon Creech.

Also: Benjamin is part of Conk Crew and hopes to major in Physical Therapy in college.
