Kentwood golfer ties for 16th at state golf championship

Kentwood’s Connor Sims led the way for area schools at the 4A golf state championship, tying for 16th with a combined score of 151 after two rounds.

Kentwood’s Connor Sims led the way for area schools at the 4A golf state championship, tying for 16th with a combined score of 151 after two rounds.

The state golf championship was held May 28-29 at various courses around the state. The boys 4A tournament was held at Camas Meadows Golf Course, while the girls 4A tournament was held at Club Green Meadows.

Tahoma’s RJ Tallud tied for 23rd with a combined score of 153, followed by Kentwood’s Mason Koch who tied for 25th with a combined score of 154. Tahoma’s Austin Whittendale tied for 47th with a combined score of 167.

As a team, the Kentwood boys finished ninth and the Tahoma boys finished 12th.

At the girls tournament Kentwood’s Katelann Soth tied for 25th with a combined score of 175. Fellow Conqueror Stephanie Cogswell tied for 30th with a combined score of 177. Tahoma’s Cedar Bowman finished 35th with a combined score of 181.

The Kentwood girls team finished 10th overall.
