Girls Soccer

Kentwood girls soccer is off to a strong start this season with a 3-0 win against Mt. Rainier on Sept. 17 and a 9-0 win against Kent-Meridian last week.

Tahoma is improved to 3-0 for the season after defeating Kent-Meridian on Tuesday 8-0. In the team’s other matches of the season so far they have defeated Auburn Riverside 3-1 and Auburn 2-1. The Bear’s Mia Corbin scored a goal in each of the later two games.

Kentlake girls soccer fell to 0-2 to start off the season with a 0-3 loss to Mt. Rainier last week and a 2-6 loss to Kentridge on Tuesday. Goals for the Falcons were scored by Kaela Galvizo with an assist by Timary Mathena and Amanda Price with an assist by Mathena. Kentridge’s Peyton Chick scored three of the Charger’s goals with one goal each scored by Emily Sugimoto, Olivia Vander Jagt, and Lexi Klinkenberg.

Boys Golf

The Tahoma boys varsity golf team is 4-0, including defeating nearby rivals Kentlake (92-74) and Kentwood (91-87).

On Sept. 16 in the match against Kent-Meridian at Druids Glen Golf Course senior RJ Tallud shot 4 under par 32 with 2 eagles, 2 birdies, 2 bogies, and 3 pars, setting a new high school record for the course.

Elsewhere in boys golf Kentwood is 3-1 with wins against Kentridge, Mt. Rainier, and Kent-Meridian and the one loss of the season so far coming in the match against Tahoma. Kentlake is also 3-1, defeating Kent-Meridian, Kentridge, and Mt. Rainier and also with their one loss of the season so far to Tahoma.

Girls Golf

Kentwood girls golf is at the top of the SPSL North standings with a 3-0 record so far this season with victories over Kent-Meridian, Tahoma and Kentridge. Kentlake is 2-1 on the season with victories over Tahoma and Kent-Meridian and a loss to Kentridge. The Tahoma girls are 2-2 with victories over Mt. Rainier and Kent-Meridian and losses to Kentwood and Kentlake.
